Available Shipboard Activities

August 25th, 2010

While one of the main focuses of an incentive cruise will be meetings and networking opportunities, cruise event participants will also have plenty of leisure time as well. With an incentive cruise, participants will not have to worry about how they will spend their leisure time. There are numerous shipboard activities available to cruise participants. Participants may have trouble deciding what to do, but they will not have any problem finding some type of fun, amazing activity to occupy their time. There are so many activities available that participants may not have time to enjoy them all!

All activities may not be available on each and every ship, but the following are examples of shipboard activities in which cruise event participants may partake: shore excursions, rock climbing walls, ice skating rinks, beauty treatments, skeet shooting, golf driving, jogging, movies, basketball, volleyball, fitness centers classes, on-board shopping, saunas, whirlpools, massage, dance classes, and deck tournaments such as ping-pong. These are just a few of the many activities that may be available to incentive cruise participants during their free time. In addition to these exhilarating shipboard activities, there are also many opportunities for on-shore excursions as well. Incentive cruises may offer on-shore golfing at some of the most breath-taking golf courses in the world.

Meet and Ski: Resort Meetings Provide Networking Opps and Good Times

March 12th, 2010

Planning meetings and corporate events at ski resorts is an excellent idea for a variety of reasons. The most obvious reason – of course – is the delight that will exude from your attendees when they find out their next business trip is to the top of a mountain with their skis or snowboard. Additionally, meeting and travel planners will find that there are some exceptional deals to be had if you do a little online research to find the best group travel deals for ski resorts. However, one of the biggest benefits that may not be quite as apparent in the planning process is the excellent networking opportunities that come with meeting at a ski resort.

When not in meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to hit the slopes, hang out in the resort’s lounge, cross-country ski, snowshoe or even take their family sledding, if they have come along as well. All of these activities provide the perfect environment for networking while on the ski lift, trekking through the forest or sharing the sledding hill. If your group is smaller than 20, you may also consider opting for a private vacation rental near or in the ski resort, which can save money on lodgings and provide a more intimate networking environment.

There are plenty of cost-effective ski destinations within the U.S. and Canada, as well as a plethora of options overseas. Also, keep in mind that the Southern Hemisphere experiences winter during our summer, allowing you to plan a meet and ski event in the middle of the summer by opting for New Zealand, Chile or other options to the south.

The Benefits of Community Involvement

March 1st, 2010

The benefits of volunteering and community involvement are vast, including the opportunity to do something positive for your local community, give back and help others. Getting involved in the community also provides plenty of networking opportunities and will assist you in increasing awareness of and good will towards your brand.

Almost every non-profit organization is in need of volunteers, making this a great place to start if you are just beginning to look for ways to get involved in your community. From phone banks, mailings and administrative tasks to hands-on volunteer opportunities organizing fundraisers, working with children, feeding the homeless or knitting scarves to support the local women’s shelter, there are volunteer opportunities to fit anyone’s schedule and preferences.

If hands-on opportunities do not sound appealing to you, or you are not sure how you could fit them into your schedule, you can also donate much needed funds to support local organizations or donate your services to be sold as an auction item at a gala or given as a raffle item at a fundraising event. Making donations of your services or money that have your name attached to them offers the additional benefit of increasing awareness of your services and assisting you in becoming locally known as a professional that gives back to the community.
